Obama's Nobel Prize...Michael Moore's Response...His retraction...Hogwash!!!

Obama...Moore...Where do I even start?!
If you are like me the last few days has been to say the least interesting. I knew that Obama had a good campaign staff, a really good publicist and really great political funding but swinging a Nobel Prize to help spin your platform....that is amazing!!
I was just muddling through it with the rest of you until I started getting the liberal chain emails from my family members. For some reason they are always trying to convince me that I am on the wrong team and maybe I should see the light that is after all their point of view. At the bottom is the link to Moore's letters in case you haven't had the displeasure of reading them for yourself. There is also a link to all of the previous Nobel Peace Prize Laureats in case you want to see what some of the truly deserving winners did to earn their awards. I just wanted to share with you my response in hopes that there are others out there in a similar situation to myself. Maybe you can identify, find solace or even inspiration for your own retort....
Obama was awarded the prize for... "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples"...not for actually accomplishing anything.
I try to be objective but to me this was just a "hail mary" from the nobel committee in hopes that the rest of the world would see this as a sign of global support for peace and nuclear non-proliferation. I do not think that radical islamic extremist terrorists will care about this gesture nor will Iran for that matter.
I unfortunately do not agree with the nomination or the award being given to him because he did not invent diplomacy and his efforts to initiate diplomacy have not been more extraordinary than those of most prior presidents. He also did not hand craft the idea of nuclear non-proliferation, that was President Truman in 1946...and was not even nominated for a nobel prize for that contribution. I don't even like them but I think Bono, Sting, George Clooney and Sean Penn have all done more noteworthy things for mankind than president Obama has and none of them have received a nomination. Maybe he should win a Heisman Trophy for watching college football this weekend! If the mere want of nice things and civil outcomes is the only requirement for a nomination then I should appeal for not being nominated. I want peace and to end world hunger and to clean up third world drinking water and provide shoes and education to children and stop people from murdering women and children and nuclear non-proliferation....etc....etc...but alas I have been overlooked year after year.
As for Michael Moore...this guy is the Rush Limbaugh of the left. He is not objective at all in fact he only cites failures of his opponents and finds ways to give credit for any good results of his opposition to his own group of like minded liberals. He carefully neglects to mention any good that has ever come out of republican politics or leadership. I am sure if asked he would deny that there ever has been any good result from a any conservative idea. He can only lump anyone who is not a liberal into one category "The Christian Right"...which is absolutely ridiculous. I for one am a moderately conservative Republican and I absolutely do not belong in that bowl of nuts! The amazingly ironic thing is that I tolerate him and even volunteered in the military to protect his right to be a radical left wing liberal a**hole but I do not agree with most of his rhetoric. I feel that he is at the forefront of the movement that keeps America divided instead of bringing it together. To me it is obvious that he doesn't truly have confidence in his beliefs or he wouldn't have to resort his childish quasi-satirical blame game. If he really had good intentions he would keep the finger pointing out of his documentaries and articles and just state his "factual research and results".
He says preposterous things like...(I added my own interpretations alongside his eloquent statement)...
"...you will close Guantanamo,...empty promise you will bring the troops home from Iraq,...another empty promise you want a nuclear weapon-free world,...and unicorns and fairies you admitted to the Iranians that we overthrew their democratically-elected president in 1953,...which was treasonous you made that great speech to the Islamic world in Cairo, which only made you look good to them but made America look worse to the entire world you've eliminated that useless term "The War on Terror,"...HOW? you've put an end to torture...pouring water on people that blow other people up with bombs-- these have all made us...liberals and the rest of the ...liberal world feel a bit more safe considering the disaster of the past eight years. In eight months ...that were spent trying to undo damage done during the previous liberal presidency you have done an about face ...from the direction America should be taking and taken this country in a much more insane direction".
...and other stupid things like "..the money spent on two years of war in the middle east could have cleaned the drinking water supply of every third world country". This is not a stupid concept but if that money was available I can assure you the liberal tax and spend commitee would not have spent it that way. Maybe there would have been another bailout or an increase in monthly welfare checks or a new program to put convicted violent felons through college but NOT to clean drinking water.
I could actually be more objective and willing to listen to his view point if he didn't insist on stereotyping and insulting me for having different beliefs.
Yassar Arafat 1994
Yitzhak Rhabin 1994
In retrospect I think that Michael Moore should have changed his position based on the ridiculous Nobel Prizes that have been given in the past. I guess if Yassar Arafat and Yitzhak Rhabin could win the prize TOGETHER!! (that is the PLO and Israel) in 1994 for peace efforts in the middle east it really doesn't matter. The award is basically a political tool to support "efforts". I am mostly disappointed that one person or party can get the "spin" approval of a Nobel Prize for not actually accomplishing anything just for good intentions (can you imagine the difference in outcomes and support if either Bush had received a Nobel Prize?). The last Presidents that won had to actually accomplish something like Roosevelt producing a series of signed Treaties or Wilson establishing the League of Nations...silly stuff like that.
This is where our conversation ended last time. I think liberals are just too self righteous for their own good. They can't coexist with anyone that doesn't agree with their point of view. I told you that to me they (the extreme left) are like angry mobs that gang up and attack individuals when they clearly have the advantage of numbers. I also think they are "Fair Weather Friends" if Obama messes up you will see liberals jumping ship or blaming republicans for his error. To think that any one single president is to blame for the state of this country is absurd. To think that our current problems are only the fault of the past 4 or 8 or even 12 years is ignorant. Our problems are cumulative and the perpetrators are us because we the people elected the a**holes, idiots and criminals who wasted our tax dollars and misrepresented our opinions and beliefs in their legislative capacity. The president is and always will be a mouthpiece and a political scapegoat of the real problem which is our political process.
I think that we should just face the fact that neither side knows the answer because if they did we would have no problems. Please stop trying to persuade me with this propaganda.

Kind of puts the value of the Award in perspective, doesn't it.
It's like handing out a lifetime achievement award to someone in their 20's
